This article discusses a scenario/arrangement whose statics/dynamics/kinematics can be understood using the ideas of classical mechanics.

The scenario here is a small object of uniform density completely immersed in a Newtonian fluid such that the object has higher density than the fluid, so that it sinks down in the fluid. We assume that the Reynolds number of the flow is very small, so that we can apply Stokes' law to compute the viscous force.
